PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

Inaugural Queen Juneteenth

● Enrolled as a high school junior female high school student in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
● Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
● Attend a historically Black college or university (HBCU) if awarded the title of Queen Juneteenth
● Maintain good moral character and attend service projects
● Attend all scheduled workshops and activities

● Have no felony convictions or participated in any type of criminal activity that will dishonor the Queen Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant
● Must not indulge in any illegal drugs, alcohol, or smoking under any circumstances during  participation in QJSP
● Parental completion of all required consent, waivers and release forms
● Participate in the pre and post Juneteenth Celebration activities

The Queen Juneteenth Crown

Upon entry in the pageant, all QJSP participants carry the title of Miss Juneteenth. Each young lady will be rewarded in many ways through this experience, with one of them being awarded the title of Queen Juneteenth.  

The Queen Juneteenth Title Holder is awarded a four-year renewable tuition scholarship to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).  The Queen will hold her title for one year.

Civic Responsibility – During her senior high school year, the Queen will lead her Court in a project to leave the community a better place than they found it.

 

The Queen Juneteenth Court

The Queen Juneteenth Court is comprised of Queen Juneteenth title holder, and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Runner Ups.

  • 1st Attendant:  Miss Sankofa – Ensures the Queen’s Court reflects on the past to build toward a thriving future and will receive a Food Lion $500 scholarship.

  • 2nd Attendant: Miss Kuumba – Ensures that the Queen Juneteenth Court creates ways to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial and will receive a City of Winston-Salem Human Relations $500 scholarship.

  • 3rd Attendant: Miss Nia – Ensures the Queen Juneteenth Court takes positive actions and stays on purpose and will receive an Arts Council of W-S/Forsyth County $500 scholarship.

  • 4th Attendant: Miss Imani – Ensures that the Queen Juneteenth Court keeps faith in themselves and others and will receive a Triad Cultural Arts $500 scholarship.
